Personal data that we process

VDM Cars processes your personal data because you rely on our services and/or because you make them available to us. Below you can find an overview of the personal data that we process:

  • Given names and surname
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Address details
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • IP address
  • Other personal data that you actively make available, for instance by creating a profile on this website, in correspondence and by telephone
  • List with contact details of the customers via an app
  • Internet browser and type of device
  • Bank account number our website

Special and/or sensitive personal data that we process

Our website and/or service do not intend to collect data about website visitors aged 16 or under. Unless they ask a parent or guardian for consent. We can, however, not check if a visitor is over 16. That is why we recommend parents to be involved in the online activities of their children in order to thus prevent data from being collected about children without parental consent. If you are nonetheless of the opinion that we collected personal data about a minor without the said consent then contact us via info@vdmcars.de and we shall then delete the said information.

With what purpose and on what basis do we process personal data

VDM Cars processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To handle your payment
  • To send you our newsletter and/or advertising brochure
  • To be able to call or email you, should this be required to perform our services
  • To inform you of changes in our services and products
  • To offer you the possibility of creating an account
  • To deliver goods and services to you
  • VDM Cars also processes personal data if we are by law held to do so, e.g. data that we require for our tax return.

Automated decision-making

VDM Cars does not reach decisions that may have (considerable) consequences for people on the basis of automated processing operations. This involves decisions that are reached by computer programs or systems, without human intervention (e.g. an employee of VDM Cars).

How long we retain personal data

VDM Cars does not retain your personal data any longer than strictly required to realise the purposes for which your data were collected. We use the following retention periods for the following (categories) of personal data:

Sharing personal data with third parties

VDM Cars does not sell / share your data to / with third parties and only discloses them if this is required for the implementation of our agreement with you or to comply with a statutory obligation. We conclude a processing agreement with companies that process your data under our authority in order to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. VDM Cars remains responsible for these processing operations.

VDM Cars does use cookies or comparable techniques.

Access to and rectification or deletion of data

You are entitled to access your personal data and to have your personal data rectified or deleted. In addition, you are entitled to revoke your consent to the data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data by VDM Cars and you are also entitled to data portability. This means that you can submit a request to us to send the personal data that we have about you to you or to another organisation specified by you.

You can send your request for access, rectification, deletion or portability of your personal data or a request to revoke your consent or to object to the processing of your personal data to info@vdmcars.de.

To make sure that the request for access is made by you, we kindly request you to include a copy of your identity document with your request. Blacken out your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the line with numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and Civil Service Number (CSN) on this copy. The latter to protect your privacy. We react as soon as possible, however within four weeks, to your request.

How we secure personal data

VDM Cars takes the protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent abuse, loss, unauthorised access, unauthorised disclosure and unauthorised adaptation. If you have the impression that your data are not secured properly or if there are indications of abuse the contact our customer service or via info@vdmcars.de.
